Steve Jobs Biography to be Turned Into a Motion Picture?

Sony Pictures Reportedly Interested in Walter Isaacson’s Biography; $1-$3 Million Deal In the Works?

Steve Jobs’ biography is supposed to come out on October 24, earlier than expected, and the word on the street now is that Sony Pictures is interested in making a “major feature film” based on the book.

Deadline reports that we may be looking at a $1-$3 million deal although Sony Pictures will not comment yet on the matter. But the same company has already completed two similar projects, The Social Network and Moneyball, which seem to make it the right candidate for producing a movie based on the iconic Apple reader.

While Mark Gordon is rumored to be the actual producer of the movie I can’t help but wonder who would end up playing the role of Steve Jobs. Noah Wyle played Jobs in Pirates of Silicon Valley more than a decade ago, and he may always be up for picking up that role and turning it into a more complex representation. Jobs clearly liked, or at least didn’t hate, Wyle role in the movie that showed the early days of the Apple vs Microsoft rivalry. Apple’s former CEO surprised the audience at MacWorld 1999 when the actor appeared the stage at the beginning of the keynote.

This does make me wonder  how would I enjoy a movie based on the life of a man, whose actions I followed closely for the better part of the last few years and whose products I used and extensively written about? Time will tell probably since there really are no confirmed details about such a major film.

We’ll probably learn more about such a potential Sony Pictures project later this year, maybe after the biography gets released. The 448-page book is based on 40 interviews with Jobs and over 100 conversations with people who knew it from family to colleagues to competitors so we’re probably find some details about Jobs’ life that we never knew about. The question is, is there a movie in it?
