Sprint 4G LTE To Cover 120 Million People By End Of 2012
For those of you mobile buffs out there who like your data plans unlimited and fast–and let’s face it, who doesn’t like a combination like that?–you’ll likely be very happy about what Sprint is looking to offer up. Sprint has some pretty ambitious plans for its 4G LTE service, and by the end of 2013, most of the United States will be covered.

According to the recent reports, Sprint’s 4G LTE service, different from its current 4G WiMAX service (brought with support from Clearwire), will reach fully 120 million people in the United States by the end of 2012. This number will reportedly double in the year to follow, meaning that most of the United States, which at last report has a population of around 307 million, will be covered by the end of 2013. Couple this on to Verizon’s plans for expansive 4G rollout and you’re looking at some pretty good times to come for mobile data users, as long as the data plans can keep up. And to go along with it, Sprint also reportedly plans to roll out an LTE device by the middle of summer 2012, as well as offer up fully 15 such devices on its shelves by the end of 2012.
Of course, some would think that, if there is indeed a massive investment going on in infrastructure, it’s safe to say that the resulting network will be able to accommodate more traffic, which means that usage caps should rise to match. And if Sprint sticks with its unlimited data plans, they might well find themselves with a bit of a competitive edge against both AT&T and Verizon, which, considering how the mobile industry has gone lately, would likely be helpful for both Sprint and its customers. Either way, though, it’s an aggressive rollout to say the least, and hopefully they’ll be able to meet their thoroughly ambitious targets.
But what do you guys think here? Figure that Sprint can meet its target? If you’re on AT&T or Verizon right now, would you leave either for a Sprint with an expanded 4G LTE network? Either way, we want to hear from you, so head on down to the comments section and tell us what you think!
