Ice White Monster Hunter Tri-G 3DS Announced For Japan

Special Edition Ice White 3DS, Monster Hunter Tri-G Bundle Launching In Japan In December

Nintendo’s latest 3DS color, Misty Pink, hasn’t even launched in Japan yet, but they’ve already announced the next color variation. The new Ice White 3DS pictured below actually seems to be coming in two variations, one bundled with Monster Hunter Tri-G and sporting a Monster Hunter decal, and one that’s just solid white without any decal to speak of.

The special edition 3DS that’s bundled with Monster Hunter Tri-G will be out in Japan in December 10th, and is bound to sell hundreds of thousands of units. We all know that Monster Hunter is one of the biggest games ever in Japan, and gamers over there will buy a handheld or a specific platform just so they can play the latest Monster Hunter game.

That’s what’s going to make this 3DS bundle a homerun for Nintendo in Japan. 3DS sales have already been climbing post-price cut, and when you introduce a new 3DS bundled with a new Monster Hunter game, you’re going to get a huge sales boost.

It’ll be interesting to see how all of this plays out, because this new bundle will be releasing in Japan just one week before the PlayStation Vita launches. There’s no doubt that the PS Vita is going to be huge in Japan once it launches, but with Nintendo putting out this special edition Monster Hunter Tri-G bundle, we’ll likely see a race to the top spot on the charts and some cutthroat competition for weeks after both release.

There’s no word yet on whether this bundle or the standalone 3DS will come to other regions, but I have say that while I can live without a Monster Hunter Tri-G bundle, that Ice White 3DS is one sharp looking handheld. Keep it tuned right here to TFTS and we’ll be sure to update you if Nintendo starts talking about a release in North America or Europe!

I heard this version of MH (MH3 on Wii) is the best version.

Also, will the MH white 3DS bundle come with the second analog stick?

    2. Eric Abent says:

Ah, sorry, I forgot to mention that in the article. The White 3DS/Monster Hunter Tri-G bundle won’t come with the circle pad attachment, but there’s a different bundle planned that’s just Monster Hunter Tri-G and the attachment.

Of course, there’s been video released that shows Monster Hunter Tri-G being played without the circle pad, and it looks like the lack of the circle pad doesn’t really affect gameplay. Check it out here.
