Used iPhones Sold To Gazelle At The Rate Of One Every 15 Seconds
With everybody still more than a little giddy from the announcement of the iPhone 4s, we have to spare a thought for all the iPhone 4 models out there. You may well have one right now. And if you’re like a lot of people, you’re probably thinking about upgrading. But where that lot of people seems to be taking their iPhone 4 models is universally over to Gazelle, who reports that they’re seeing a used iPhone 4 land in their hands at the rate of one every 15 seconds.

And today wasn’t the only big day for used iPhone 4 models landing in their shop. Last week alone they took in 5000 models, with Friday by itself accounting for fully 1000 of that five. They believe that what’s driving that sudden huge influx is people looking to get in on the buyback price structure, which is almost certain to drop given how many iPhone 4 models are about to suddenly be sold at massive discounts as used hardware.
Interestingly, Gazelle also reports getting in a sizable quantity of Android devices and Blackberry hardware as well, and at around the same time as the iPhone 4 influx, so chances are there are quite a few Android and Blackberry users about to be former such users in the light of the newest version of iPhone.
It’s really not much of a surprise that iPhone 4 users would be looking to trade in their phones to get their hands on the upgrade, especially when the upgrade represents such a significant upgrade as the iPhone 4s does matched against the iPhone 4. What really surprised me, though, was the sheer number of other systems trading their hardware in, though admittedly, we don’t know whether they’ll be buying iPhone 4s units themselves, as there’s more than enough hardware coming out over the next several weeks to go around in every operating system.
So what about you guys? Are you trading in your iPhone 4 to get an iPhone 4s? Are you trading in your Android or Blackberry device to do likewise? Or are you sticking to your current model? Either way, we want to hear from you, so hit the comments section and tell us what you think!
