Sony Ericsson Xperia Ray To Hit United States, Unlocked
We’ve been hearing bits and pieces, off and on, about the Sony Ericsson Xperia Ray for a good while now–as far back as June, really–and now we’ve got some good news for the United States readers who have been wanting to get hands on this since its showing out at the CommunicAsia show. Specifically, you’ll be able to get your hands on one of these yourselves through the folks out at Newegg.

The Sony Ericsson Xperia Ray is set to pack Android 2.3.4, or Gingerbread if you like the sweet name better, as well as a 3.3 inch capacitive touch screen display showing in 854 x 480 resolution with the Mobile Bravia Engine, as well as an 8.1 megapixel camera facing the rear as well as a VGA camera facing front for your video chat needs. You’ll also get a microSD card slot with accompanying card and 720p video capture capability, all of which is backed up by a 1 GHz processor. It comes in your choice of four colors–black, pink, gold, and white–though just which of those colors will be available on the Newegg release is, as yet, unclear. And it even goes so far as to support the 3G bands used across North America.
While these were set to hit “select global markets” in the third quarter of 2011, it seemed like the United States wasn’t set to be one of those “select global markets”, at least until now thanks to Newegg. It’s a little strange to see it only hitting out there–I haven’t seen or heard any other reports about the Xperia Ray showing up in other outlets–but for those who were wanting to see this hit at all, any location is better than none. And you’ll be able to pick one of these up pretty soon–just when they wouldn’t say–for $424.99.
So what do you guys think? Any of you looking forward to getting hands on with a Sony Ericsson Xperia Ray? Or are you saving all your cash for the iPhone 5 release that should be coming up pretty quick here? No matter how you’re leaning on the topic of cell phones, we definitely want to hear from you, so hit the comments section below and tell us what you think!
