Microsoft Windows Phone 7 Chassis Meant for Low-End Specs Discovered
During the Microsoft Conference 2011 in Shinagawa, Japan, a chassis intended for Windows Phone 7 devices was spotted. Now, it wouldn’t have been noteworthy — it’s just a chassis after all – if it wasn’t for the fact that this chassis shows a key difference from other Windows Phone 7 device cases.

The chassis reportedly meant for a device called ZTE Tania, can house all the usual hardware specs of many Windows Phone 7 handsets. These include at least a 3 megapixel camera, multi-touch display, microUSB connector, 3.5mm jack, GPS, and accelerometer among others. But one thing’s different from the rest – the chassis can support storage capacity of as low as 2GB when usual Windows Phone 7 devices need a minimum of 8GB storage.

While there’s no official word on whether this is a chassis of a low-end device, a lower storage capacity usually shaves off a considerable amount from a phone’s price point. If this chassis is indeed for a low-end Windows Phone 7 device, it might carry the yet to be released WP 7 Tango, which is specifically developed for affordable phones.
