Kindle Fire on Best Sellers List For 4 Days Despite Being Unveiled Only 2 Days Ago [Has Amazon Cooked the Books by Moving New Kindle Products Atop Its Best Sellers List?]

Amazon announced the new Kindle, the Kindle Touch, Kindle Touch 3G and Kindle Fire at a special media event in New York city two days ago, or on September 28.

The new products generated a lot of buzz over the last two days with customers already starting to pre-order their new Kindle gadget of choice. Earlier today we looked at the first Kindle Fire and Kindle commercials that went viral on YouTube and that’s when we discovered an interesting paradox when looking at Amazon’s Electronics Best Seller list: the new Kindles have been in that top for four days.

How is that possible we ask, considering that Jeff Bezos took the stage only two days ago to unveil the new devices? After all light supposedly appeared only when God summoned it, not a couple of days before. Has the company “cooked the books” by including the new Kindle eReaders and tablet in the top 100 ahead of launch. In which case it’s strange that nobody noticed the new additions ahead of launch considering the millions of buyers that visit the store each day.

Or has Amazon started to take pre-orders from employees well ahead of the official announcement, in which case that would explain why the devices have been present in that list for longer than supposed to. But in this case we’re certainly surprised nobody leaked images of the new devices to the press.

While we wait for Peter to return to the Fringe division in order to resolve this mystery we’ll show you the current Best Sellers top 10 in the electronics section. As expected it’s going to be dominated by new Kindle devices. And all of them have been there for four straight days:

I’ve long believed that Amazon has been cooking their best selling list to favor the Kindle. I noticed this with the Kindle 1st gen. They also have used their front page as a full-fledged add for the Kindles since then, much to the way google is using is internet search prowess to suggest to use Chrome, etc. That being said, the new $79 Kindle were going to end up on that list anywas, I personally ordered one :)
