Archos Clarifies The G9 Android Tablet Processor Confusion [Archos G9 Android Tablets Now Shipping With A 1.0GHz Processor, Will Soon Also Be Shipping With A 1.2GHz &1.5GHz Processor Option]

It looks like there has been some confusion in terms of the G9 Android tablet lineup from Archos. A confusion dealing with the processors. Originally, when the tablets were first announced back in June it was noted that they would have a 1.5GHz processor. And well, when they began shipping earlier this month, they did so with a 1.0GHz processor.

Needless to say, Archos has stepped up and offered an official statement in an effort to clarify the situation. And at risk of giving an answer that will only confuse even further — both processors are correct. In fact, there will be a total of three processor speeds in the Archos G9 Android tablet lineup.

According to what Archos has said, the tablets are currently shipping with a 1.0GHz processor dubbed the “Classic” and then they will ship with a 1.2GHz “Turbo” processor towards the end of October and a second “Turbo” version (that is 1.5GHz) sometime in December. That being said, what that tells me is that you may want to wait a bit before you buy.

The statement from Archos comes by way of their official Facebook page and breaks it down as follows;

For G9 tablets, ARCHOS partnered with Texas Instruments to leverage the performance range offered by the family of OMAP 4 smart multi-core processors. G9 tablets feature Classic and Turbo models, giving you the choice between a 1 GHz processor, 1.2 GHz processor and, ultimately, a 1.5 GHz processor (1.5 GHz availability starting in December).
By doing this, ARCHOS will be the first to market a multi-core, Android Honeycomb 3.2 tablet under €250 with its 8’’ G9 featuring the OMAP 4 smart multi-core at 1 GHz for €249.
Pushing the technological boundaries even further, the ARCHOS G9 “Turbo” will be the first and only Android tablet in the market under €300 to use the OMAP 4 multi-core processor at 1.2 GHz for only €279.
