Verizon Wireless Officially Unveils The Pantech Jest 2 [Pantech Jest 2 Announced For Verizon, Available From September 29th With On-Contract Price Of $79.99]
It looks like Verizon Wireless has stepped away from the smartphone and tablet announcements for a moment and have offered up some details on the newly available Pantech Jest 2. The Jest 2 is a quick messaging style device and is available as of today September 29th.

The handset is described as being an “ideal basic phone with serious texting skills and globe-trotting capabilities.” And true to that word, we have what appears to be a handset with only the most important features. But perhaps a bit nicer, we have what appears to be a nicely priced device.
That being said, the Pantech Jest 2 arrives priced at $79.99. Though we should point out that price comes AFTER a $50 mail-in rebate and along with the usual two-year agreement. Otherwise, the key features that one can except to see include a 2.4 inch LCD display, full hardware QWERTY keyboard and a 2 megapixel camera with video recording.
Other goodies include the following;
- Global-ready – quad-band with support allowing customers to enjoy wireless voice and data service in more than 200 countries
- Task bar key for quick access to Verizon Wireless services, dialing, favorites, recent calls, messaging, music, pictures, contacts and tools
- Opera Mini Browser for mobile Web browsing
- Full suite of messaging options, including text, picture, video and voice messaging and mobile instant messaging
- VZ Navigator – receive audible turn-by-turn directions to millions of points of interest and share directions with others, includes access to mobile Web and email
- V CAST Tones – download ringtones and ringback tones
- Supports up to 32 GB microSD card
- Bluetooth support includes headset, hands-free, stereo, phonebook access, object push for vCard and file transfer
- 3.5 mm headset jack
All said and done, the Pantech Jest 2 will probably not be what the power users are looking for. But still, at the same time it seems to have the key specs and a fair price. Plus, this should be a good alternative for those who are not into a smartphone and the required smartphone data plans.
