Verizon Details Android 2.3 Gingerbread Update For The Casio G'zOne Commando
Verizon officially announced the Casio G’zOne Commando back in late April and the handset launched with what was the norm at the time — Android 2.2 Froyo. Anyway, things seemed quite on the G’zOne Commando front in terms of updates since.

Of course, that is not to say we have not seen any software updates for the handset during its lifetime, however this one will probably be a bit more exciting for most considering it brings Android 2.3 Gingerbread. More specifically, it arrives as software update C771M070 and is noted as including “several improvements.”
That being said, the update (aside from the bump in version number) seems more like a bug fix update than anything major. Some of the goodies include fixes for the proximity sensor and improvements in terms of overall device lag. Though, any update that can remove some of the lag will probably be welcomed.
Anyway, here is a full breakdown of the changes that one can expect to see once the update begins rolling out.
Call Features
- Screen will brighten upon touch when phone is docked during a voice call.
- Proximity Sensor accurately senses presence during a voice call.
Email and Messaging
- Auto signature can be enabled within SMS/MMS messages.
- Device wil no linger generate a draft message when opening a message.
Additional Device Features
- Privacy Caution screen will now appear during Setup Wizard.
- V CAST Media Manager now comes preloaded.
- Reduced device lag.
As of now, while this update has been detailed by Verizon, it has yet to be posted on the Casio G’zOne Commando support page. In other words, while official — it looks like it may be a little while before it actually begins making its way to users phones. Lastly, as for the warning — make sure you back up anything important that may be stored on your phone before you begin the update process.
