Is Twitter Ready For The Traffic Sure To Come From iOS 5?

With Twitter's Integration Into The Core Of iOS 5, The Site Says They Are Ready For The Traffic That Will Ensue

Since Twitter (and Facebook) are planning on being integrated into the core of soon-to-be-released iOS 5, there is bound to be a large increase in traffic at the same time. Companies like Twitter need to be ready for these spikes in traffic or they’re looking at some technical difficulties and the last thing Twitter needs is the Fail Wale to be hanging around.

Interestingly, Twitter believes they are already all set for the traffic to come. They had already been busy upgrading and improving their servers over the past year so this situation shouldn’t catch them off guard. Twitter’s VP of Engineering Michael Abbot reasures us:

During the last nine months, there’s been more infrastructure changes at Twitter than there had been in the previous five years at the company, so that whether it be the death of bin Laden, or someone announces a pregnancy, we can handle those issues and you’re not seeing a fail whale.

Effectively, Twitter’s saying “Bring it!” to the future traffic that is surely coming from the release of iOS 5.
