Broken Sword Now Free On GOG
Well everyone, GOG has finally hit its six millionth download. It’s been a long journey that was full of uplifting highs and disappointing lows, but they finally made it – even with everyone telling them that they wouldn’t make it to six million. “You should just give up!” they would shout at the downtrodden digital distribution platform.

Okay, no one ever said anything like that. When GOG announced last week that they were fast approaching 6 million downloads, we all expected that they reach their upcoming milestone pretty quickly. Well, it’s happened and as promised Broken Sword: Shadows of the Templars Director’s Cut is now free for everyone.
If you want your copy of Broken Sword: Shadows of the Templars Director’s Cut, you have to act quick. It’s only available for the next 48 hours, so you have just about two days to redeem your free gift, give or take a couple of hours.
Of course, one lucky person is walking away with more than just Broken Sword. The person lucky enough to download GOG’s six millionth game was rewarded with GOG’s entire catalog for free. Sure, there’s some games in GOG’s catalog that could probably just fade quietly into the past with no one missing them, but with games like Fallout, Baldur’s Gate 2: Shadows of Amn, and Planescape Torment, whoever won the full catalog is probably a pretty happy person at the moment.
So, is anyone planning on grabbing their free copy of Broken Sword: Shadows of the Templars Director’s Cut? I know I am, but I can’t say how long it’ll be until I get around to playing it – after a ton of great deals around the internet this summer, my backlog has grown by a significant amount. Still, this was a pretty cool thing for GOG to do, and they’ve proven yet again that even though they’re a relatively small operation, they’re still one of the best digital distribution platforms around.
