Battlefield 3 Beta Now Available On PSN, Xbox Live & Origin

Check Out Battlefield 3 One Month Early With The Battlefield 3 Open Beta That Goes Live Today

Just a little reminder for all of you Battlefield 3 fans out there: that Battlefield 3 open beta that DICE announced last week has gone live on the PlayStation Network, Xbox Live Marketplace, and Origin. You can download it today and give Battlefield 3 a test spin until October 10th, so get to it!

For those of you who missed the details the first time around, this Battlefield 3 beta is open to everyone with an Xbox Live account or PSN account on consoles, but PC gamers hesitant to embrace Electronic Arts‘ new Origin service are going to have to bite the bullet – the Battlefield 3 PC beta is only available through the Origin client.

This particular Battlefield 3 beta will let you play Rush mode – where one team of players is put on the defensive while the other team tries to destroy a series of objectives – on a single map: Operation Metro. It’s a bare-bones beta, but it would be foolish to think that the lack of maps and game modes is going to prevent gamers from playing the beta over and over again.

Unfortunately, almost nothing about the soldier you create is going to transfer to the full game when it’s released next month. DICE says that your records and stats will be deleted once the beta ends since they anticipate having to make changes to the multiplayer mode after the beta has wrapped. Also, they say a transfer like that would be unfair to those who don’t participate in the beta and start Battlefield 3 off fresh. Even though your progress won’t be saved when making the jump to the full game, you’ll be able to use the same name for your soldier, so there will still be a little reminder of your beta days left over.

So, who’s going to give the beta a shot? Any Modern Warfare fans going to download the beta and check out what the competition is like? Head down to the comments section and let us know your plans for the Battlefield 3 beta!
