Asus Reveals Tough Rugged Honeycomb Tablet for Japan

Tough Water-Proof, Dust-Proof Asus Tablet Heading to Japan Market

Asus recently revealed a new rugged tablet called “Tough.” There are still more rugged phones and laptops out there, but as tablets gain popularity, it’s only natural that we see more and more rugged models. The Asus Tough is a 7-inch device, and like other rugged devices, it’s waterproof and dust-proof.

The Asus Tough runs on Android 3.2 Honeycomb OS. Another rugged feature is its ability to survive falls of up to 76 centimeters (that’s around 30 inches or 2 ½ feet) – not much really, but at least you don’t have to worry about your tablet being a fragile fairy. Other features include a 1 GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor, 16 GB storage, 5 megapixel shooter, Bluetooth and WiFi connectivity, miniUSB port, microSD slot, and GPS for all you outdoorsy types out there. Of course, it would have been better with a 3G connection, but it unfortunately doesn’t have one.

This one’s headed for Japan’s KDDI network, however. So if you’re not from Japan, better look elsewhere for your rugged tablet needs.
