New Kindle & Kindle Touch 3G Now Official: Specs, Features, Release Dates & Pricing [On Top of Kindle Fire, Amazon Updates Kindle eBook Reader Line With Even Cheaper Models]
The Kindle Fire is not the only official product we’re going to see today from Amazon. CEO Jeff Bezos, taking the stage at the company’s media event, also introduced three new Kindle eBook Readers, priced even cheaper than the current model. We’ve just seen the Kindle Touch earlier but the new device has two interesting brethren, a new Kindle and the Kindle Touch 3G.

Here’s what you can expect in terms of specs and features from the Kindle Touch 3G:
- Free 3G – in over 100 countries, without annual contract or data plan
- “most advanced” E Ink display
- touch interface
- EasyReach Feature
- Extra long battery life
- Audible integration
- X-Ray Feature – Wikipedia support for more information about terms encountered on a book’s page
- Whispersync
- Free storage via the Amazon Cloud
- smaller and lighter than its predecessors
The device will offer enough memory, on top of the cloud storage, to “carry thousands of books” from Amazon’s collection of “millions of books,” not counting the free titles, all available in 60 seconds or so.
Both the Kindle Touch and the Kindle Touch 3G are available for pre-order today with shipping scheduled for November 21st, right in time for Christmas. In fact, I expect the new Kindles to sell like hot cakes considering these interesting prices.

In fact, if you feel like $99 is too much, then you’ll be happy to hear that a new touch-less Kindle model is also going to be available, starting today, for just $79. That’s insane pricing and will probably turn these devices into killer products. Everyone else in the eBook Reader business should start worrying about these three new products ready to threaten rival devices.
The “regular” new Kindle will 18% smaller than its predecessor, weighs just 5.98 ounces and can carry 1,400 books. Other features include Wi-Fi support, Whispersync and free storage in the Amazon Cloud. Naturally, since it doesn’t have a touchscreen it will feature some buttons on the bezel, but not a full keyboard.
The $79 Kindle ships today, so you can order yours right away if you’re not interested in the Kindle Touch, Kindle Touch 3G or, of course, the Kindle Fire.
What new Kindle device are you buying? Kindle Keyboard, Kindle, Kindle Touch, Kindle Touch 3G or Kindle Fire (vote in our poll)?
