Nokia Starts Shipping N9 Worldwide

Nokia's First & Last Meego Phone to be on Shelves Soon

Nokia N9 is the company’s first and last MeeGo phone as it readies to transition to Windows Phone 7 this fourth quarter of 2011. It was previously thought that the N9 will be released either August or mid-September. While these target dates weren’t met, everyone waiting for the Nokia N9 can now rest assured that they can get the device soon enough – Nokia just announced that it has started shipping the handset worldwide.

The Nokia N9 has a seamless 3.9-inch AMOLED touchscreen design, completely devoid of buttons of any sort. It has HSDPA and WiFi connectivity, 3.5 mm jack for your standard headphone needs, 1GHz OMAP3630 processor, and an impressive 8-megapixel Carl Zeiss camera that can shoot HD videos. Nokia says it’s easily one of its best camera phones. As such, it goes for quite a bit – approximately $647 for the 16GB version and $755 for the 64GB version. We’ll see in the upcoming weeks how the N9 – a collector’s item, really – sells at those price points.
