Nokia Gets Its First Windows Phone 7 App [WP7 App for Nokia Now Available on The Marketplace]

Nokia’s Windows Phone 7 devices are a long time coming. Rumor mills have been abuzz for months about device unveilings, launches, and releases. But it’s almost October, and we’re yet to hear anything solid aside from a Tweet that the first Nokia WP7 devices are arriving this fourth quarter of 2011. There’s also the fact that Nokia World is scheduled for October, and it’s widely-believed Nokia’s WP7 devices will be unveiled there.

An indisputable hint of the imminent unveiling is the very first Nokia Windows Phone app called “Top Apps.” It helps you find the “latest and hottest applications, view their ratings ad descriptions then get them straight to your phone.” The app is now available on the Windows Marketplace. The irony, of course, lies in the fact that no other Nokia Windows Phone apps exist yet. Nevertheless, you can add this to growing number of confirmatory actions by Nokia and Windows regarding the mentioned Q4 release date. It remains to be seen, however, if the companies reach their goal of shipping 125,000 WP7 units by the end of the year.
