Is A Second Kindle Fire Waiting In The Wings?
Strange word emerges today, folks, as we discover reports out that say the Kindle Fire, set to be announced tomorrow, may just be a placeholder for a better device that’s set to land early next year. The word comes from the always-popular anonymous informants, and the story they had to tell was a doozy indeed.

The story the anonymous tipsters brought forward was that the Kindle Fire was actually based on the RIM template for the Blackberry PlayBook, and that Amazon was desperate to get a tablet out the door and in consumer hands in time for the upcoming Christmas shopping season, which, if some stores are to be believed, has essentially already started. Anyway, while the ebook friendly Kindle Fire will make it out well in time for holiday shopping, there’s said to be a second version waiting in the wings that’s packing some significant improvement.
At last report, this is not the first time this has happened, with the Kindle 2 leading off things in the short term on the Kindle DX, which followed behind in fairly rapid fashion. And the thing about it is, this doesn’t seem to have been a planned thing so much as it is kind of a big coincidence, with the Kindle Fire’s release date set well in advance and the other rumored device having been delayed several times.
Now what’s interesting about this is that it leaves those in interested in the Kindle Fire with a serious decision to make. Do they buy the Kindle Fire now in hopes that a better device won’t suddenly emerge? Or do they hold out and miss out on a perfectly good piece of hardware that’s got magazines sufficiently optimistic that they’re not going to begrudge Amazon taking an Apple-sized cut of the profits?
And that’s the question I pose to you. Will you be picking up a Kindle Fire, knowing that a better device may come out in three to six months? Or will you wait out those three to six months to see if the new and improved materializes? Either way, the comments section awaits below, so head on down and tell us what you think!
