T-Mobile iPhone 5 Flatly Denied, Unlike a Sprint iPhone 5
Earlier today we saw T-Mobile announced two new Android handsets – well, just one if you consider the Galaxy S II as an already announced device – but there are more interesting details coming from GigaOm’s Mobilize 2011 conference.

It looks like both Sprint and T-Mobile officials were asked the same question, will the carrier launch the iPhone, and the way it was answered is pretty revealing.
T-Mobile went out to flatly deny an iPhone launch while admitting that the carrier would like to sell the device:
T-Mobile USA Chief Marketing Officer Cole Brodman, talking with Om Malik about the iPhone, said, “We’d love to have the iPhone whenever Apple makes that available.” He also said, “the ball is in Apple’s court” and his company is “waiting for that phone call.”
Sprint, on the other hand, took a totally different stance when dealing with the same issue:
Stacey Higginbotham asked Stephen Bye, Sprint’s CTO, the same question. His response? “I’m not in a position to comment on that.”
Sprint’s response aligns perfectly with the company’s previously leaked memo that suggested that all employees should avoid talking about an iPhone 5 launch with customers. That “no comment” approach certainly leaves room for discussion as it’s not a clear denial like in T-Mobile’s case. In all honesty, between the two carriers, Sprint is the more likely to launch the iPhone, whether it will be the iPhone 5, or just the iPhone 4, as the carrier has been rumored on more than one occasion to get Apple’s iconic smartphone this year.
Rumors regarding a potential T-Mobile iPhone launch were a lot scarcer, with various reports also suggesting that the carrier will not have the iPhone 5 in stores this year.
Apple is rumored to announce the new iPhone 4S/5 at a special event scheduled for October 4, and expected to take place in Apple’s own back yard. While we wait for the company to make everything official, let us know what U.S. carrier would you rather buy the new iPhone 4S/5 from by voting in our poll here!
