Samsung Galaxy Tab Still Not Nearing Release in Australia

Apple's Patent-Infringement Claims Against The Galaxy Tab 10.1 Down Under Yet To Reach Conclusion

Apple’s complaint against Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 10.1 in Australia was filed back at the end of July. While no formal injunction was filed, Samsung agreed to delay the launch of its tablet until decision on Apple’s claims are reached. Unfortunately, it seems like it will be delayed even more beyond the end of September as the judge who’s handling the case wants more time to study Apple’s patent-infringement claims.

A formal injunction, albeit a brief one, may be filed by Federal Court Justice Annabelle Bennett. She wants time to weigh arguments from both Samsung and Apple as the two battle it in court on whether sales of the Galaxy Tab 10.1 in Australia should be held until they resolve the dispute. If it continues like this, the 10-inch Tab might take a very long time before it’s officially released down under, if it even gets an official release. As evidence by its own lawsuits against Apple, Samsung isn’t going down without a fight. “This is a high-stakes fight,” Samsung lawyer, David Catterns, says. “This is where we draw the line.” And like a juicy courtroom TV show, we wait for the next episode…
