Samsung has officially announced their latest Windows Phone running handset, the Samsung Omnia W, which also happens to be their first that will be running Mango. The handset is touted as featuring an “elegant design” and one that is set to arrive for sale beginning next month.

That being said, while we do have the official announcement from Samsung. And we do have an official release timeframe — we have yet to learn anything specific in terms of a date or anything at all in terms of a price. Needless to say, we suspect some of that will be coming available sooner, rather than later by way of the individual carriers. In terms of where, Samsung plans to offer the Omnia W in Italy as well as other areas of Europe, CIS, Latin America, Africa, South East and South West Asia. Yup, you read that correctly, nothing so far in terms of a US release.
With that out of the way, lets get into the specs. First and foremost, as mentioned this will be a Windows Phone handset, running Mango. And that means it will include some of the newly released Microsoft apps including the Phone People Hub which has integration with social networking sites such as Windows Live, Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn.
Other Windows Phone goodies include the Picture Hub, Music and Video Hub as well as the Game Hub. And for those into music, that Music Hub is powered by the Zune, which means you can sign up for the Zune Pass and have on the go access to just about any track you can wish to play. Well, maybe not any track, but certainly a wide variety.
Moving onto the hardware and we learn that the handset will include goodies such as a 3.7 inch (800 x 480) WVGA Super AMOLED display, 1.4GHz processor, 512MB RAM, 8GB internal storage, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1, 3.5mm headphone jack, GPS, 1500 mAh battery, VGA quality front facing camera and a 5 megapixel rear facing camera with auto-focus and LED flash. Otherwise, the handset will include the usual smartphone features such as an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, proximity sensor, magnetometer and gyroscope. And lastly, the Omnia W will measure in at 115.97 x 58.8 x 10.9 mm and weigh in at 115.3 grams.
