Minecraft Pocket Edition Landing On Android Devices Later This Week [After A Period Of Exclusivity On Xperia Play, Minecraft Pocket Edition Is Coming To All Android Devices Later This Week]
So, you love Minecraft, but you don’t love that you can’t play it on the go. Well, this isn’t a problem if you own a laptop, or a Sony Ericsson Xperia Play, but that’s neither here nor there because if you’re craving Minecraft on the go and have a laptop or Xperia Play, your portable Minecraft needs have already been fulfilled.

But what about the rest of us who don’t have an Xperia Play? Well, you only need to wait a few more days, dear Minecrafters, because Mojang Specifications has announced that the Minecraft Pocket Edition will finally be coming to all other Android devices on Thursday, September 29th.
That’s only three days away! Mojang originally signed a deal with Sony Ericsson that put Minecraft Pocket Edition on the Xperia Play before any other Android device, but in just three days that exclusivity deal is officially over. This means that you can finally stop being mean to Xperia Play owners for being able to play Minecraft on their phones before you do.
As for the iOS version of Minecraft… well, that’s still on the way eventually. There’s still no solid release date set for the iOS version of Minecraft Pocket Edition, and with the the Xbox 360 version coming up in a couple of months and the final release of Minecraft on PC scheduled for early November, it might be a while before we hear any news of an iOS release date.

Wondering how you’re going to play Minecraft on a touchscreen phone that lacks a control pad? Never fear! Notch and his team at Mojang have released have video that’ll run you through how Minecraft controls on a touchscreen phone. All in all, it looks pretty straightforward, but at the risk of sounding like a snob, I think I still prefer mouse and keyboard controls when I’m facing down a group of Creepers (or Endermen for that matter).
So, who’s planning on picking up Minecraft Pocket Edition when it becomes available to all Android owners on Thursday? Are you still holding out for the iOS version? Head down to the comments section and sound off!
