LG Gets Official With The Optimus EX Smartphone, Is Heading To SK Telecom [LG Optimus EX Smartphone Announced For Korea, Features Include A 4" Display, 1.2GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 Processor, 8GB Storage & Android 2.3 Gingerbread]

We saw the details for the LG Optimus EX smartphone leak out a few days back and as of today — LG has put an end to any rumors and officially announced the handset. Though, just like the leaked details suggested, this one looks like it will only be heading to Korea.

More specifically, it looks like the LG Optimus EX is going to be heading to SK Telecom in South Korea. Of course, there is always the hope that it will eventually make its way into other markets, however it seems like this will simply be another Android running handset. Simply put, there is not all that much that differentiates this from any other Android offering.

The features for the LG Optimus EX include a 4 inch WVGA IPS touchscreen display, dual-core 1.2GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage, microSD card slot and Android 2.3 Gingerbread. Other goodies include HDMI, Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Direct and a 5 megapixel rear facing camera with the ability to record video at up to 1080p. Otherwise, the handset will measure in at 118 x 63.4 x 9.5mm and bring other goodies to include DMB. Of course, that last feature is one that only those in South Korea would be able to take advantage of anyway.

Bottom line here, this looks like a nice enough handset and one that could see some nice sales for SK Telecom, but at the same time, it is not one that we can see anyone outside of Korea being super upset over. After all, the specs are fairly similar to many other Android smartphones that are available with any number of carriers across the globe. Then again, that is not to say the phone does not appear to have a nice overall look, but that may just be due to the fact that I am a bit partial to white handsets.
