Huawei Honor Smartphone Announced

Huawei Announces The Honor Smartphone, Features Will Include A 4" Display, 1.4GHz Processor, 8MP Camera & Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread

It looks like Huawei has announced their latest Android running smartphone, the Huawei Honor. The handset is not expected to arrive for a few months time, however it was noted as coming with Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread.

More specifically, the Huawei Honor is said to be coming in Q4 2011. In terms of where, the Honor is heading to Asia-Pacific, China, Russia and the Middle East. And according to the details coming from Huawei, the Honor will first be available in Classic Black with “more colors coming closer to the Christmas holidays.”

“Huawei Honor encapsulates the Huawei brand – it features simple-to-use, advanced technology that allows people to share and connect easily. Honor provides a package of features that elevates the smartphone user experience, including an ultra-long battery life, so critical to the performance of smartphones but yet is often downplayed,” said Victor Xu, chief marketing officer of Huawei Device.

That aside, lets get in to the hardware specs. The Honor will have a 4 inch (854 x 480) FWVGA capacitive touchscreen display, 1.4GHz processor, 512MB RAM, 4GB internal memory, a microSD card slot, GPS, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP, 2 megapixel front facing camera, 8 megapixel rear facing camera with auto-focus and a 1900 mAh battery.

Other goodies that Huawei are touting include the handset being DLNA certified, featuring a Dual Mic set up, compass, gyroscope, g-sensor, proximity sensor, light sensor and an “exclusive” Huawei user interface that has its own “dynamic weather widget” which according to the above image — is powered by AccuWeather. And just in case the fancy weather widget was not enough to win you over, the Honor will also come with 160GB of network CloudDrive storage.

With that, the pricing and anything in terms of specific carriers has not been revealed. The Honor will measure in at 10.9mm (about 0.43 inches) and weigh in at “around” 140 grams (0.3 pounds). And lastly, in terms of network support, the Huawei Honor was noted as having 2G for GSM 850/900/1800/1900, 3G for WCDMA/HSPA+ 900/AWS/2100 and 3G HSPA+ downloads of up to 14.4 Mbps and uploads of up to 5.76 Mbps.
