Fido Preps For "Major Phone Launch" By Restricting Employee Vacations Beginning October 4th
And just like that, we now have another bit of rumor suggesting that the iPhone 5 is going to be announced soon. Well, more specifically, what we have here is word of a vacation blackout period for Fido employees.

The blackout period is noted as beginning on October 4th, which of course leads to the speculation that it is because of the upcoming iPhone 5 announcement. That being said, the details of the vacation blackout period for Fido employees are coming by way of a leaked memo and does not specifically mention the iPhone 5.
According to the memo, the blackout is due to a “major phone launch.” And while that could lead one to believe that the device is the iPhone 5, there is one concern that we have with the memo. But first, the details of the memo read as follows;
Due to a major phone launch in starting weeks of Q4. Fido employees are in blackout from October 4, 2011 to November 31, 2011 to help with the increase in traffic and sales. Schedules for these weeks will be redone by your store managers.
This launch is expected to be the largest in history and the blackout date could be extended. Any existing time off will be cancelled.
Please see your Store Manager or Area Manager if you have any questions.
Anyway, there is the obvious issue in that November only has 30 days. Well, that is unless they have some strange calendar up in Canada that we in other parts of the world are not aware of. But we suspect that not to be the case and instead will blame in on a rushed memo and failure to proof read. Plus, we also make the occasional typo so we are not going to fault them all that much.
More to the point, it is looking more and more like Apple will soon be holding an event. Anyway, based on the usual rough timeline that Apple tends to give journalists for events, we should begin seeing invitations hitting email inboxes sometime tomorrow. Or sometime soon after.
