Dead Rising 2: Off The Record PC Version Detailed
Capcom’s Dead Rising 2 update, Dead Rising 2: Off the Record, is nearly upon us, and in typical Capcom fashion, they’re charging what some are thinking is a pretty ridiculous price for simply an updated version of the original. Regardless of what you think of the price, Capcom is pushing forward anyway, and they’ve finally detailed the PC version of Off the Record.

For starters, Capcom is planning to release the PC version of Dead Rising 2: Off the Record on the same day that they release the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions, October 11th. There’s a litany of places you can pre-order the PC version from, but the pre-order bonuses are more or less the same. Pre-ordering the digital version from the Capcom Score will net you 10% off the purchase price. Capcom is also offering a boxed copy of Dead Rising 2: Off the Record, and those who pre-order that version will get a “Uranus Zone” T-Shirt on the house.
Unfortunately, the exciting pre-order bonuses stop there. Your pre-order from Direct2Drive, GameTap, GamersGate, and GamesPlanet all get you the same bonus: 10% off the purchase price. There’s been no pre-order bonus announced for the Steam version of Dead Rising 2: Off the Record yet, but if were a betting man, I’d bet the house on 10% off the purchase price.
As far as the DRM is concerned, DR2: Off the Record will use Games For Windows Live’s SSA DRM just like Dead Rising 2 did. Games For Windows Live’s SSA DRM requires that players register their game online before they can play it, which isn’t too bad when compared to Ubisoft’s infamous online-only DRM, but I know that some people still have issues with Games for Windows Live.
Finally, if you were wondering what the system requirements for Dead Rising 2: Off the Record are, wonder no longer. Capcom also revealed what kind of hardware it’s going to take to run Dead Rising 2: Off the Record, and here’s the system requirements:
- Operating system: Windows Vista/XP, Windows 7
- Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4 Ghz or better, AMD Athlon X2 2.2 Ghz or better
- Memory: 2 GB RAM
- Hard disk space: 8.5 GB free hard drive space
- Video: NVIDIA GeForce 8800GTS or better, ATI Radeon HD 3850 or better
- DirectX: DirectX9
Capcom says that you’ll also need the latest DirectX and Games For Windows Live resdistributables before you can play Dead Rising 2: Off the Record. So, are you planning on picking up Dead Rising 2: Off the Record, or is this one update that you’re going to take a pass on? Head down to the comments section and let us know!
