BlackBerry PlayBook Prices Begin To Drop For Those In Canada
The rumors began circulating just a few days back and it is looking like they are indeed accurate. Though, what we have seen thus far includes only pricing from a handful of retailers, and only from retailers in Canada.

That being said, this looks like good news for those in Canada who happen to have been eying the PlayBook. Plus, we suspect it will only be a matter of time before other retailers and other markets begin to drop the prices. In terms of what we are seeing now, reports coming from Walmart as well as Future Shop and Best Buy.
And perhaps best of all, these price cuts are for anyone and everyone as opposed to the employee only sales that we saw last week with Rogers and Telus. Bottom line here, it looks like the PlayBook can now be found in Canada for as low as $249. Though, that $249 price tag comes with some controversy.
According to the details we have seen, the $249 price comes from Walmart and is for the 16GB model. The catch, while there is at least one image that MobileSyrup has posted as evidence (the purchase receipt), it does not appear that every Walmart is honoring that price. In other words, your milage with Walmart may vary a little bit.
Otherwise, both Best Buy and Future Shop are offering the QNX running tablet for $299.99, $399.99 and $499.99 for the 16GB, 32GB and 64GB models respectively. And for those wondering the discounts, that means a savings of $100 for each model. Granted, its not quite the same as the HP TouchPad fire sale, but a $100 discount is still much appreciated. Plus, it was also noted that Future Shop is throwing in a $100 gift card for those who make their purchase online.
All said and done, while this is good for those wishing to make a purchase, it does not look at that positive for RIM, or the future of the PlayBook.
