Smartphones & Tablets Dominate WiFi Usage In Airports
According to a study published by Boingo Wireless (provider of software and services in the WiFi industry), smartphones and tablets surpassed laptops on the list of devices that use WiFi in airports. Boingo published an infographic they call “WiFi Snapshot” that collates data from 60 airports and a network of thousands of global hotspots.

The results are clear – smartphones and tablets dominate mobile computing. In airports anyway. If you take a look at the graphics below, you can see that smartphones and laptops passed 50% back in February, and have been growing since. But it doesn’t end there. We all know that when it comes to smartphone and tablet sales, Apple’s iPhone and iPad are the leaders. That also seems to be the case when it comes to airport WiFi usage. Apple iOS devices actually account for 83% of all mobile devices used in airports – Android devices place a distant fourth place behind iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch.
