iPhone 4S Parts Reportedly Showing Up In India
Between the beans that Al Gore spilled earlier on, not to mention the whole host of reports we’ve had to this effect over the last several weeks, it’s looking more and more like we’ll be seeing a pair of new iPhones emerge when Apple actually has its press event. And for those of you who still aren’t sure, there’s a little extra word coming out of iRepair in India, who got their hands on what looks to be a variety of new parts for the iPhone 4s.

Now, iRepair actually managed to leak some other parts earlier in the week, so don’t be confused–this is a completely different set of parts. The new parts don’t appear to be early prototypes, as based on the look of the ambient light sensor, nor do they look to be just parts for an iPhone 4 purporting to be iPhone 4s parts, as there are some very subtle differences, reportedly, in the ribbon cables and the connectors. The headphone jack and power assembly is also said to be slightly different as well.

Minor differences all, but minor differences that can make all the difference between an iPhone 4, an iPhone 4s and an iPhone 5. After all, the earlier reports suggested that there wouldn’t likely be a whole lot of difference between the iPhone 4 and the iPhone 4s in the first place, which is certainly backed up by the fact that you have to look pretty carefully to note the differences between old iPhone 4 parts and these.
The idea of a “cheap iPhone”, which is what rumor suggests that the iPhone 4s is in fact meant to be, is a good one, as it opens up the iPhone experience for a whole lot of people who wouldn’t–even couldn’t–have gotten in on it previously. And every person Apple can get in the fold is another one likely to buy again when the next Apple experience comes around. Plus, of course, there’s also the potential to open things up in other countries like China and places in Africa.
So what do you guys think? Are we looking at iPhone 4s parts? Is the iPhone 4s a good idea in the first place? Would you buy the “cheap iPhone” when it came around if it went on a pay as you go scheme? The comments section is waiting to tackle your thoughts, so head on down and let us know what you think!

They’ll launch iphone 5 along with iphone 4s nearly, on or before diwali . .
I’m seeing a lot of leaks for the iPhone 4S but nothing for the iPhone 5… If there is only 1 version coming out in Oct, it will be very disappointing. I want to upgrade to the 5 from my Evo, but if it’s not coming out this year what would be the point of wasting my upgrade to a “cheaper” version.
A Cheaper iphone is very exciting. I cannot afford iphone, but i’d love to have one. May be the cheaper version is the answer. But i can only buy it, if it is about $200 or so.
Some reports suggest that it will even be a simultaneous launch, as in you’ll see them both (well, maybe one then the other) at the same event.
Stick around, Jay–I’m working on a piece right now about iPhone 5 issues, and you know we’ll have plenty more before the big day hits.
There may be some subsidies and discounts going on, but only if you’re willing to take on a long-term contract.
