f8 2011: Facebook Music Announced, Netflix & Hulu Support Also In the Works
We already saw Facebook’s new Timeline unveiled at the company’s f8 event but it looks like the giant social network has even more stuff in the pipeline for its customers.

In fact it seems that the launch and almost immediate growth of Google+ has convinced Mark Zuckerberg and Co. to come up with more and more Facebook features so the arrival of Google’s own social network was probably just the jolt Facebook needed to up its game in the social environment.
The company will let you listen to music while updating your status, using apps or interacting with fellow Facebookers. Facebook Music is the name of the new service and various partners are involved such as Spotify, Rdio, MOG and Rhapsody, among others.

Using the new Music service you’ll be able to actually share your music with your friends and listen to what they’re listening. Simultaneously! You’ll be able to browse through your friends music activity and timelines and stalk their music preferences on a daily basis.
On top of music support there’s also video on-demand integration in Facebook’s Timeline from popular services like Netflix and Hulu. The bad news is that only Canadian and Latin American Facebook users will be able to use the new feature in late September with support for U.S.-based customers coming at some point later down the road. This applies to Netflix for now but it could also include Hulu usage as well.

What’s the problem you ask? Well it looks like Congress has to revise a privacy law before Facebook can roll out the new feature. What will U.S. consumers be missing? Well apparently Netflix and Hulu videos can be watched in Timeline and, at the same time, your Facebook friends’ recommendations will appear into your Netflix account, either in the web or PlayStation 3 interface.
What do you say, Facebookers, do you care much about the video and music integration in Facebook? While we’re at it let us know what you like better, Facebook or Google+ by answering this question.
