Roku Partners With Disney, Means Free Short Form Content
Those with a Roku set-top box in their home who also happen to be fans of Disney (or have kids who are fans of Disney) may want to check out this latest news — a Disney channel has recently come available for the Roku. And best of all, the channel and content are both available for free.

Of course, as with anything that is free, one can expect to see some ads. But on the flip side, the newly launched Disney channel on Roku has come with “hundreds” of short form videos so that may be worth seeing a few Disney related ads.
The content is described as being good for “fans of all ages” and will include Disney characters such as Winnie the Pooh and Lightning McQueen as well as singing sensations such as the Jonas Brothers, Selena Gomez and AllStar Weekend.
According to details coming from the press release, the Roku will be the first player to offer this collection, which sort of hints that we may see it on other players in the future.
“We’re delighted to be the first player to stream this collection of Disney videos to consumers’ TVs,” said Roku Founder and CEO Anthony Wood.
And looking forward, Disney made mention that they plan to “roll out more content and new features in the months to come.”
With all that, those with a Roku set-top box in their home can fire it up and then navigate to the Roku channel store where they can download this new Disney channel. And in the end, speaking as both an owner/fan of the Roku and as a parent of younger children — this makes perfect sense. After all, Disney is kid friendly, but more important — the Roku user interface and remote are simple to use — aka, the Roku is also kid friendly.
