Archos 80 G9 Android Tablet Now Available In The US
Archos originally unveiled their generation 9 Android tablets back in late-June and while they offered up a decent announcement in terms of specs and starting price points, they did not offer quite as much in terms of when they would be available for sale.

Well, it looks like today happens to be the day — at least for the Archos 80 G9, which has just been listed as available on the official Archos website. Though, worth noting — the tablet is noted as being available in limited quantities. In other words, if you are thinking of making a purchase, you may not want to wait all that long or you may miss out in this round.
Anyway, while I have long been a fan of Archos devices for their fair prices, there was always one big complaint in that the Android Market was not installed by default. Sure, there was an hack available, but it was just that — a hack. The good news with this new model is that the Android Market access will now be available out-of-the box.
The tablet is priced at $299.99 and for that you will get an 8 inch (1024 x 768) capacitive multitouch display, dual-core 1.0GHz ARM Cortex A9 processor, 8GB of internal storage and Android 3.2 Honeycomb. Also, just for those looking for something more in terms of processing power or storage — Archos will have other models of the 80 available in the future with a 1.5GHz processor and up to 250GB of storage.
But before we digress any further, lets get back to the specs for this particular model. The Archos 80 G9 (for $299.99) will also be packing a front facing camera with the capability to record 720p quality video, HDMI out, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR, microSD card slot, USB, GPS and the usual goodies including a g-sensor, compass and built-in speakers. And lastly, the Archos 80 G9 is also sporting a built-in kickstand, measures in at 8.90 x 6.11 x 0.46 inches with a weight of 17 ounces.
