GTA IV Has Shipped 22 Million, GTA Series Surpasses 100 Million Shipped

Take-Two Shares Number Shipped For A Variety Of Their Franchises, Grand Theft Auto Comes Out On Top With More Than 100 Million Shipped

It’s been a while since we’ve heard from anything Grand Theft Auto-related, but Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick had a pretty good reason to push the series back into the spotlight today. Speaking at ThinkEquity’s annual Growth conference, Zelnick announced that Grand Theft Auto IV has shipped a total of 22 million copies since its release in 2008.

That’s quite a while to rack up that huge number, but it’s still pretty darn impressive, especially when you consider that we’re used to seeing numbers like that come from the Call of Duty series. All in all, Zelnick said that the Grand Theft Auto series has shipped 114 million copies since its debut back in 1997.

Zelnick also shared numbers from some of Take-Two’s other franchises: so far, Borderlands has shipped 4.5 million, the BioShock franchise has shipped 9 million, the Civilization franchise has shipped 11 million, and Red Dead Redemption has shipped a total of 12.5 million copies since its release last year.

Impressive numbers all around, but none of Take-Two’s franchises come close to toppling Grand Theft Auto‘s 114 million units shipped. At least this means that Grand Theft Auto V is probably a sure thing, wouldn’t you say?
