Verizon Wireless 4G LTE Going Live In 26 New Markets Today

Verizon Flipping The 4G LTE Switch For 26 New Markets & Expanding Existing Coverage Area In 3 Cities On September 15th

As we had expected to happen, the next phase in the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE roll-out will be happening today. With the new areas that are being added today, Verizon will be nearing 150 markets across the country and offering coverage for more than 160 million people.

Or more specifically, Verizon Wireless will have 4G LTE coverage available in 143 markets as of today which includes the 26 cities that are going live as of today, September 15th. And in addition to the 26 new cities, Verizon is also expanding on the previously available coverage in another three cities. The new cities include;

  • Fort Smith and Jonesboro, Arkansas
  • San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara, California
  • Daytona, Florida
  • Bloomington, Champaign/Urbana, Rockford and Springfield, Illinois
  • Quad Cities, Illinois/Iowa
  • Iowa City, Iowa
  • Shreveport, Louisiana
  • Kalamazoo and Saginaw, Michigan
  • Reno, Nevada
  • Las Cruces, New Mexico
  • Fargo, North Dakota
  • Canton, Lima and Mansfield, Ohio
  • Dyersburg, Tennessee
  • Tri-Cities, Tennessee/Virginia
  • Austin, Beaumont/Port Arthur, Wichita Falls and El Paso, Texas  

And moving onto the three cities that will see expanded coverage, that list includes;

  • San Francisco
  • Indianapolis
  • Cleveland/Akron

“We’ve followed an aggressive roll out plan for our 4G LTE network, and consumers and businesses can connect today to the fastest 4G LTE network in the country with nearly a dozen devices,” said David Small, chief technical officer of Verizon Wireless.

Speaking of that nearly dozen devices, those include everything from smartphones and tablets to notebooks, netbooks and modems. Of course, many will remember the Droid Bionic, which was recently and finally made available for sale. Otherwise, the 4G LTE devices include;

  • Smartphones: DROID BIONIC by Motorola, Revolution by LG, DROID Charge by Samsung and ThunderBolt by HTC
  • Tablets: Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 with 4G LTE Notebooks and Netbooks: HP Pavilion dm1-3010nr Entertainment PC and Compaq Mini CQ10-688nr with built-in 4G LTE
  • Hotspots: Verizon Wireless 4G LTE Mobile Hotspot MiFi 4510L and Samsung 4G LTE Mobile Hotspot SCH-LC11
  • Modems: Verizon Wireless 4G LTE USB Modem 551L and Pantech UML290 USB modem
