Samsung Transform Ultra Announced For Boost Mobile

Boost Announces The Samsung Transform Ultra Smartphone With Android 2.3, Will Arrive October 7th & Come Priced At $229.99

While Sprint has had the Samsung Transform smartphone available for a little while now, it looks like the handset will also be arriving in the pre-paid market with Boost Mobile. Though, worth noting, the Transform will arrive with Boost Mobile as the Samsung Transform Ultra and sporting a slightly different design.

That being said, those who are interested in making a purchase will not have all that long to wait — the handset is due to come available beginning on October 7th. As for the price — $229.99. With that, once available those looking to make a purchase should be able to find the handset by way of the Boost Mobile website as well as in Boost Mobile retail stores and in select independent dealer locations.

Moving past the release date and the price, lets get into the specs, which nicely done — they include Android 2.3 Gingerbread. Other goodies include a touchscreen display, slide-out QWERTY keyboard, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, microSD card slot, front facing VGA quality camera and a rear facing 3 megapixel camera.

Of course, there will also be access to the Android Market as well as the usual goodies from Google including Gmail, Google Talk, Maps and more. As for the calling plans, as this is a pre-paid carrier there are no long term commitments to make. But with that, while Boost does not require you to sign a lengthly agreement, you may want to stay with them given the potential price drops for long-term customers.

You see, Boost Mobile is going to be unveiling their Android Monthly Unlimited plan with Shrinkage beginning on October 6th. This plan includes unlimited nationwide talk, text, Web, email and calls to 411 and will drop $5 in price each month eventually getting down to $40. All said and done, this may not be the highest spec’d Android device on the market, but for $230 and no-contract it seems like a fairly solid offering.
