Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 Pre-Orders Go Live With Best Buy

Good news for those in the US who are anxious to get their hands on the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 tablet — the device is now available for pre-order. And in addition while they are not offering a specific release date, there is a fairly small window as to when the tablet is expected to ship.

That being said, the pre-orders have come available with Best Buy who are offering the 16GB model and the 32GB model. The pricing for the 16GB model is $469.99 and the 32GB model comes with a $100 premium — at $569.99. As for that shipping timeframe, Best Buy notes that as being somewhere between September 25th and September 30th.

Bottom line here, while you can place an order as of today and the tablet is expected to ship before the month comes to an end — we remind you, this date is nothing more than an “estimated” date and that means it is still subject to change. Of course, on the flip side of that we are going to try and stay positive and hope that is accurate.

As far as the specs go, these are the Wi-Fi only models (in metallic gray) which means those looking for anything with cellular connectivity will have a bit longer to wait. Otherwise, according to the spec listing, the Galaxy Tab 8.9 will arrive with goodies to include an 8.9 inch (1280 x 800) WXGA TFT touchscreen display, 1GB RAM, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 3.0, GPS, USB 2.0, and Android 3.1 Honeycomb.

In addition, the tablet will measure in at 9.1 (W) x 6.2 (D) x 0.3 (D) inches, weigh in at 15.8 ounces and also feature a 2 megapixel front facing camera along with a 3 megapixel rear facing camera. And lastly, while the Best Buy website does not specifically mention the processor, previously released details from Samsung note the Galaxy Tab 8.9 as having a dual-core 1GHz processor on-board.
