New iPhone 5 Case Renders Suggest Completely Different Design

Fifth-generation iPhone Pictured as Bigger, Possibly Thinner Than Current iPhone 4 Model by Case-Mate Cases

Earlier today we saw a new leak suggesting some important design changes for the upcoming iPhone model. The purported iPhone 5 screen protector spotted before were bigger than the current iPhone 4 model revealing a narrower but longer Home button than the traditional one found on all iOS mobile devices to date.

Now we’re looking at iPhone 5 case renderings coming from Case-Mate that also happen to suggest the upcoming product will have a totally different design. We’re looking at a device that appears to be similar to the iPad 2, sporting curvier edges and a flat back. Also significant changes are present on the sides of the phone. The mute switch has been moved on the right side of the device, near the location of the back camera, while the volume up and volume down keys are still placed on the left-hand side. We’ll notice the volume controls look nothing like the current iPhone 4 volume buttons and they are rather similar to the same controls found on the iPad.

The microSIM card slot is present on the right side of the device as well and these Case-Mate cases seem to have an opening to accommodate fast access to the slot, although I’m not sure why such a feature is needed. How many times does one have to change SIMs during a day? This particular case feature suggests that all iPhone 5 models will have SIM trays, therefore that CDMA models would come with world mode support, especially since Case-Mate doesn’t tell us we’re looking at cases made for the future GSM iPhone 5 models.

The page, detailing these “iPhone 5 Barely There Brushed Aluminum Cases” is suggesting these accessories are selling for $40.00 a pop, and what’s even more interesting about it is that it has recently been pulled.

Is it all a marketing stunt, you know, a call of attention and instant traffic? Or are we looking at a real product that’s meant to be sold to future iPhone 5 users soon?

Are you buying the next iPhone? What model, iPhone 4S or iPhone 5? What carrier will you choose?
