Sprint Helps Stop Distracted Driving With 'Sprint Drive First' App
Every parent of children who drive get nervous that their kids are doing stuff they ought not to be doing behind the wheel. It’s amazing that they have to make laws against actions like texting while driving but that’s because that’s what people will do. Sprint is attempting to give parents a tool to hopefully take that temptation away and it’s called “Sprint Drive First.”

This app does amazing things when it comes to stopping distracted driving. First, when it detects the car is moving faster than ten miles an hour, it automatically locks the phone. Also, it directs all calls to voice mail and auto-responds to text messages. It can allow up to five predefined numbers to ring through and the functionality of three apps (think navigation and the similar). When the car stops, the phone goes back to normal.
The other cool part of this whole situation is that parents can receive notifications should their child override the app. The app is available on Sprint powered Android phones for $2 a month and will be hitting other OSs in coming months.
