Sprint Gets Official With The LG Marquee
It looks like Sprint has officially announced their latest Android smartphone. The handset is the LG Marquee, which appears to be a re-branded version of the previously announced (and not available with Sprint) LG Optimus Black. The Marquee will debut on October 2nd, which will coincide with MADE Fashion Week in New York City.

Of course, while the handset will be in-store and available as of October 2nd, it will also come available for pre-order a few weeks earlier — on September 20th. Sprint will have the LG Marquee priced at $99.99, which will come after a $50 mail-in rebate and along with a two-year agreement. Just to make note, those wishing to pre-order will have to do so before September 27th. And while it seems a bit strange that pre-orders are ending so early before the actual release date, it seems Sprint wants to reward those who pre-order.
“Customers who pre-order LG Marquee will begin receiving their devices on Thursday, Sept. 29 – three days before the device goes on sale.”

Moving past the release date, pre-order date(s) and pricing — lets get into the specs. The LG Marquee will arrive sporting a 4 inch (480 x 800) NOVA display, 1GHz processor, 512MB RAM, 2GB internal storage, a microSD card slot, a 2 megapixel front facing camera, a 5 megapixel rear facing camera and running Android 2.3 Gingerbread. Other goodies include a GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 3.0 + EDR, a 1500 mAh battery and a 2GB microSD card included in the box.
The Marquee will measure in at just 0.36 inches thick, weigh in at 4.3 ounces and have support for Adobe Flash, Sprint ID and mobile hotspot. Though, that last one does require an additional monthly fee. The mobile hotspot will set you back $29.99 per month and supports up to five devices at a time. Otherwise, the handset will require a Spring Everything Data Plan which begins at $69.99 plus $10 for the Premium Data add-on.
