Sprint iPhone 4 Launching in October, iPhone 5 Not Mentioned
A recent story from the Wall Street Journal claimed that Sprint will launch the iPhone 5 and the iPhone 4 later this year and today we’re looking at a new report that suggests Sprint Nextel sales associates may be in training for getting at least one iPhone version in October.

According to TUAW, a Sprint iPhone 4 launch is scheduled for October, with the iPhone 5 not being mentioned. The news comes from a sales associate that attended a carrier briefing in which plans for the iPhone 4 launch have been unveiled.
The Sprint iPhone 4 will apparently be launched with “standard Sprint data plans” and they will include a $10 data smartphone premium plan that’s not going to be an iPhone specific plan.
What’s also interesting is that the same associate mentioned that Sprint will also launch a 4G iPad which is certainly interesting as, at least so far, Apple has not made any 4G-ready iOS device, and by 4G I mean either WiMAX or LTE. Sprint is already selling 4G Wi-Fi devices to be used with iPads, but a 4G iPad sounds like an iOS tablet with built-in 4G capabilities. Launch dates and pricing details for such a product are not available at this time.
As for the iPhone 5, the device is not being referred to yet. Either Sprint is trying to prevent any unwanted leaks, or the carrier will only launch the fifth-generation iPhone model at some point later this year or in early sprint next year.
Apple’s fall media event, which will introduce the fifth-generation iPhone, and which we expect to be scheduled at some point by the end of September, will certainly offer us more details regarding the company’s iPhone 5 roll out plans.
Earlier today we heard that a Gold Master of iOS 5 will be ready by September 23, with the iPhone 5 launching in early October. At the same time France Telecom’s CEO is saying October 15 may be the launch date of the device, which falls in line with previous leaks and reports.
