BlackBerry Colt Might Come Out Soon But Without BES Support
RIM’s recent BlackBerry 7 devices are selling so poorly that the company is reportedly rushing to release a QNX smartphone. The most recent BlackBerries haven’t exactly been exhibiting stellar sales partially due to consumers waiting for the QNX-based BlackBerries slated to be released by 2012. But RIM has to do what it can so sales could pick up soon, and RIM is supposedly rushing to finish the first QNX BlackBerry phone, the Colt.

While it might sound like great news for everyone waiting for a QNX device, it seems it would come with a drawback. According to source, the QNX Colt might be released without support for BES/BIS email/calendar. Peter Misek, an analyst from Jefferies & Company says its integration is proving to be difficult on QNX, and if RIM is to release Colt soon, it would have to do without BES/BIS functionalities.
This means corporate customers won’t have access to BlackBerry Enterprise Server, and that means Colt’s early launch could be more detrimental than helpful. Leaked images of the QNX OS running on BlackBerry Playbook were recently leaked, and it didn’t have BES/BIS support either.
