Poor Nintendo 3DS sales forced the company to take a drastic measure – a large price cut that, in the United States, brought the price down to $170 from the original $250 retail price. The huge price cut already brought positive changes to the 3DS sales in Japan, with the company selling a whopping 214,821 units the first week alone. U.S. sales might not be as impressive, but is still notable in its own right.
Nintendo just revealed that it sold more than 235,000 3DS units in the United States back in August. Compared to a similar timeframe from back in July, sales were up by 260%. Going forward, it’s all about the titles that come out for the 3DS, and we hope to see some great games join the line-up. We’re also definitely interested to know if the availability of a second thumbstick (and news games that need two thumbstick) could affect the 3DS sales any.
