Square Enix Registers Final Fantasy XIII-3 Domain Name
It looks like Square Enix is going to ride that Final Fantasy XIII gravy train for as long as they can. Even though the original Final Fantasy XIII was somewhat of a dividing factor among Final Fantasy fans and critics alike, Square Enix is pushing forward with Final Fantasy XIII-2, Final Fantasy Versus XIII, and if a new domain name registration is any indication, Final Fantasy XIII-3.

The domain was unearthed by Fusible, and the Whois information for the domain indicates that Square Enix registered it just a few days ago, on September 7th. Of course, this might just be Square Enix snatching up the domain name and sitting on it so no one else can use, but given their apparent obsession with the Final Fantasy XIII brand, it seems safe to assume that there’ll be a Final Fantasy XIII-3 eventually.
Final Fantasy XIII-2 isn’t out until January 2012, so we probably won’t be getting any official confirmation of Final Fantasy XIII-3‘s existence for a while. Hopefully Final Fantasy Versus XIII – the Final Fantasy XIII spin-off that fans seem to want the most – will be out before work begins on Final Fantasy XIII-3, but honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if Square Enix keeps Final Fantasy Verses XIII on the back burner while they work on getting the more direct sequels out.
Keep it tuned here to TFTS and we’ll have more details on Final Fantasy XIII-3 as they develop.
