Amazon Tempts Android Developers With $50 AWS Credit [New Amazon Appstore Developers Will Get $50 Credit For Amazon Web Services, Amazon Moves Against Android Market]
The Amazon Appstore really has been waging war on the status quo in the Android app ecosystem, mainly the Android Market and GetJar. Now, they’re offering something lucrative in an attempt to lure more developers to their store. Those who sign up for a new developer account on the Amazon Appstore will get a $50 credit towards Amazon Web Services (AWS).

AWS is Amazon’s cloud computing platform and they offer a ton of solutions for online businesses and websites. A developer could probably get some use out of a $50 credit for AWS, so this is a pretty good incentive for them.
Amazon has gotten a lot of props for their Appstore. They offer sales and discounts often, like the real Amazon, and they also have a cool Android emulator on the web version of their store that allows you to test drive Android apps from the computer. But, they’re not without criticism.
Some Android developers have spoken out against Amazon’s Appstore, saying that they don’t like how Amazon will change the price of their apps for sales and whatnot. They also don’t think that Amazon is good at allowing them to respond to customer criticism and offer app refunds – things they can do on the Android Market or GetJar.
Amazon has dominated almost all forms of shopping on the web. Certainly looks like they’re playing for keeps as they attempt to get developers to come to their online store for Android apps. What do you think about these tactics? Tell us about it in the comments section.
