IFA 2011: TomTom Launches iPad App
TomTom has long had an iOS app for the iPhone and the iPod Touch, but the company hasn’t customized the app for the iPad until now. If you’re an iPad user, you can now get an iPad-customized TomTom app for your device from the Apple App Store. This new development was announced during this year’s IFA 2011 in Berlin.

The personal navigation device market is declining as people choose to use navigations apps and programs on their phones and tablets, especially since many of them are free to use. In fact, TomTom forecasts a 20% PND market contraction for 2011. TomTom has been trying to reduce the company’s dependence on a single product, and thus has worked on extending its reach to Apple devices, with the iPad being the newest addition. TomTom is also reportedly developing an app for the Android platform, although the release date for that is still unknown.
