Call of Duty XP 2011: Modern Warfare 3 Hardened Edition Price Announced

Modern Warfare 3's Hardened Edition Packs In A Bunch Of Extra Content & As A Result Sports A Higher Price Tag Than Previous Hardened Editions

A couple of days ago, we brought you the news that the rumored Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Hardened Edition was confirmed, but were unable to report an actual price for this impressive special edition. We speculated that it might come in a bit higher than the price of previous Hardened Editions – $79.99 – given its contents, and it turns out that we were right.

According to Activision, the Modern Warfare 3 Hardened Edition will set you back $99.99, a full $20 more than what we’re used to. Of course, this jump in price is hardly surprising, considering that those who buy one get a year’s subscription to Activision‘s Call of Duty Elite premium service, which is a $50 value.

This means that you’ll save $10 off the price of a subscription to Call of Duty Elite, and all of the other bonuses – a steel case, alternative disc art, exclusive bonuses for both PSN and XBLA, and a 100-page war journal – are essentially free. All things considered, this isn’t a bad deal by any means, but I’m sure there’ll be at least a handful of Call of Duty fans who be able to find something to complain about anyway.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will launch along with its Hardened Edition on November 8th.

Also, the Elite subscription includes the DLC. If they release four DLCs within the year at the usual $15 price tag, you’re way ahead getting the Hardened Edition.

Ah, that’s right. I didn’t even make that connection while writing this. They also said that they’d be releasing DLC monthly for those that are subscribed to Call of Duty Elite premium, so that’s a lot of extra content the Hardened Edition will net you.

I guess this a much bigger value than I originally thought, and I already thought that this was a pretty great deal.
