Motorola Milestone 2 Will Get Android 2.3 Beginning In "Early Q4"
Motorola originally announced the Milestone 2 back in September of last year. And at that time, the handset was left with the rather generic release timeframe of sometime in the 4th quarter of the year. Well, the handset eventually did launch and it did so with Android 2.2 Froyo.

And while that was probably a fair version of Android to have at that time, this is now well into the second half of 2011 and people want something else, something a bit newer — they want Gingerbread. That being said, it looks like Motorola has a bit of good news for Milestone 2 users — an update is in the works and should be arriving before the end of the year.
More specifically, Motorola has offered the following details on the official Motorola Europe Facebook page;
Hallo all! We can confirm that we expect the Android 2.3 upgrade for Milestone 2 users to begin rolling out in early Q4. More details on timing for each country will be shared closer to availability. Thanks!
With that, we suspect there is now a few smiling Milestone 2 users. The catch here, being patient enough to wait for the update to actually arrive. Or perhaps a bit more important, trying to not get overly frustrated when Motorola does not release Gingerbread in your country first. Anyway, while an announcement that Ice Cream Sandwich was coming would have been a bit better considering the timing — we have to say that the Milestone 2 is still a solid handset and should do rather nice with Gingerbread.
For those who may have forgotten, the Motorola Milestone 2 sports features to include a 3.7 inch (480 x 854) touchscreen display, slide-out QWERTY keyboard, 1Ghz processor, 8GB of internal storage, wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, GPS, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, a 3.5mm headphone jack, 1400 mAh battery and 5 megapixel camera with auto-focus, digital zoom and dual LED flash.
