Instagram Once Again Promising To Release An Android App
A day doesn’t go by that the kind folks at Instagram don’t get requests for an Android app. Up until now the super-popular photo sharing app (and accompanying network) has been only for the iPhone users among us. Back in December of 2010 we were promised that they were working on an Android app. Now it’s almost a year later and the same promise is once again reiterated by CEO Kevin Systrom.

Instagram is a photo sharing app but if that was all it was it would probably be lost in a sea of other apps doing the same thing. Instagram used several methods to make their app rise above the crowd and created a sort of social network using photos instead of words. It was first released in October, 2011 and by December they had hit one million users. As of June of this year, that number had hit five million. Even in the face of companies like Facebook looking to integrate Instagram-like photo filters, Instagram shows no fear.
The question is, how long will it be before the Android app hits the Market so the robot fans can jump in on the action? They say they need to hire some developers and whatnot to work on the project. Meanwhile, the Android Market must have patience.
