HTC Radar Official: Specs, Features, Release Date & Pricing

3.8-inch Windows Phone 7.5 Mango Smartphone (Known as Omega) Coming in October Too

If the new 4.7-inch HTC Titan, also a Windows Phone 7.5 Mango smartphone, is too big for your taste then you could always buy the HTC Radar, also announced today, which will be available at some point in October.

The phone, previously known as the Omega, is a 3.8-inch handset which we’ve seen in previous rumors and leaks here on TFTS. And here’s the official specs sheet for the handset, although you may have already seen its characteristics in an earlier leak, just before the London-based event started:

  • Size: 120.5mm x 61.5mm x 10.9mm (4.74″ x 2.42″ x 0.43″)
  • Weight: 137 grams (4.83 ounces) with battery
  • 3.8-inch touch screen with 480 x 800 resolution
  • 1GHz processor
  • 8GB memory (up to 6.54GB available)
  • 512MB RAM
  • 5-megapixel camera with F2.2 lens, dual LED flash and BSI sensor (for better low-light captures); 720p HD video recording
  • VGA front-facing camera
  • 3.5mm stereo audio jack
  • 5.1 surround sound for video and SRS enhancement
  • microUSB 2.0
  • gyro sensor, G-sensor, digital compass, proximity sensor, ambient light sensor
  • Wi-Fi b/g/n
  • Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP and PBAP
  • GPS with HTC Locations and Bing Maps support
  • 3G – up to 14.4Mbps download and up to 5.76Mbps upload speed
  • Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE – 850/900/1800/1900 MHz
  • HSPA/WCDMA – 900/2100MHz
  • Internet Sharing (Mobile Hotspot)
  • 1,520mAh battery
  • Windows Phone 7.5 Mango
  • Zune software
  • HTC Hub support
  • Twitter, Facebook and Windows Live integration

As you can see the device is a inferior in specs and features when compared to the Titan (screen size, processor speed, cameras performance) but that doesn’t mean it won’t offer you a more than great smartphone experience especially if Windows Phone 7 happens to be your favorite mobile platform in the world.

While the handset is expected to arrive in October, we still don’t know what carriers will launch it and there are no pricing details for the Radar either. We’d expect to see the Titan priced at $199.99 with new-year contracts and therefore, considering the obvious differences between the two handsets, the Radar could be somewhat cheaper.

We’ll be back with more details about these new HTC Mango handsets once we have them, in the mean time let us know what smartphone platform would you rather choose this year by voting in our pole here.
