PAX Prime 2011: Ex-Portal Developer Introduces Quantum Conundrum [Upcoming Title Quantum Conundrum Is A Game Of Multiple Dimensions]
Kim Swift was one of Portal’s designers, but she’s recently been working on a different game introduced during PAX Prime 2011. Together with her team at Airtight Games, Swift has created the dimension-shifting game Quantum Conundrum. The game puts you in the role of a 12-year-old boy dropped off by his mother to the house of an uncle. Turns out the uncle is an eccentric inventor called Professor Fitz Quadwrangle, and somewhere along the way, he disappears entirely.

Thus is the premise of the game, and the whole quest revolves around finding your missing relative. Fear not, you do get help. Among the uncle’s inventions is a device called IDS (Inter-Dimensional Shift Device), which allows you to shift the dimension of your surroundings. Each dimension seems to have its own laws of physics, and in order to solve puzzles, you need to shift between dimensions. Among the dimension types is the “Fluffy” dimension where everything turns into a lightweight fluffy item (see image below). A couple of other dimensions are called “Slow Motion” and “Reverse Gravity.”

Quantum Conundrum will be released on 2012 for the PC, XBLA, and PSN.
